Unfortunately, trail conditions were icy and snow-packed and the wind was blowin' so he had to rethink his strategy. He still wore his heart rate monitor, global positioning system, lycra, spandex, performax, and coolmax, but--Runner Boy went from planning on blazing the trail to trying to avoid breaking his ankle. (Even though I assured him that my FAVORITE orthopaedic surgeon (my boss) was on call today.)
I took the kids over to the race to cheer Runner Boy and the other runners on and we had a great time. Kate wanted to stay to see every runner and kept begging to see, "more runners!"

Sam eventually got mad when he couldn't navigate in the deep snow. (He was also embarrassed about having to wear his sister's outgrown PINK snowpants.)

We were very proud of our Daddy...he ran a great race and avoided a trip to the ER.
