He's been watching the Olympics. Intently. Studying technique, equipment, skills.

entitlement
Scene: morning. preparing for church. breakfast.
Runner Boy: "Sam, you need to get dressed and come to breakfast."
Sam: "I can't."
R.B.: "You need to take off your jammies and get dressed."
S: "I can't doooo it! I need Momma to help me!"
R.B.: "Fine. You just won't be eating breakfast."
S: "I can't doooo it...it's too much work to do it!" (as he runs around yelling and rolling on the floor clutching his jammies...)
After the agonizing defeat of having to get out of his jammies and into clothing without government help, an educational program and a grant to provide an aid to dress him, he showed up at the breakfast table.

fashionista...
Kate has recently observed that one of her Chinese school buddies has an accessory that she doesn't.
She said to Runner Boy today, "Dad, G has ear 'mugs'. I need ear 'mugs', too."
Runner Boy responded dryly..."That's ear muffs, Kate..."

our olympiad
the olympics are quite popular around our house. kate loves ice skating and sam has become an avid downhill ski fan.
after watching some of the Super G men's skiing tonight, sam began to pretend to ski and providing his own color analysis.
he said, "i was skiing down da hill when i hit da gate and fell down. well, somebody pushed me down and i fell. but it was a 'axidant'. then i forgot to put on my goggles an some snow plopped in my eye."
who would have thought a 3 1/2 year old would love down hill skiing?
kate on the other hand is practicing her quad toe loop jumps. it's so entertaining to see them to see the sports and then try to emulate them.
...just hope they don't try the half-pipe in the whirlpool tub...could get messy...
